Inverted nipples are a common problem affecting many women. Traditional approaches to correction involve cutting the ducts attached to the nipple through a small incision around the areola, leaving patients with a scar. At Rowe Plastic Surgery our doctors have had success correcting this problem through minimally invasive means. During this office procedure the patient is made comfortable and the nipple is pulled out and pierced. The piercing is left in place to stretch the ducts for several months before it is removed. This prevents any unsightly large external scar while correcting the inversion of the nipple.
